A grand jury will hear the case of a Braceville Township man who is accused of kidnapping a woman and holding her against her will.

54 year old Joseph Baum answered to a judge Thursday on charges of kidnapping, two counts of improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, domestic violence, aggravated menacing, possession of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and unlawful restraint.

The charges stem from a February 6 call made by an ex-boyfriend of the victim, stating he believed the victim was being held against her will and being abused by her boyfriend.

A police report says when officers responded to Baum's motor home, the victim was found to have multiple bruises on her face and body.

The victim testified that Baum had threatened to kill her if she left, and had beaten her repeatedly over the course of several weeks. Overcome by questioning, she at one point left the courtroom in emotional distress.

Baum denies any allegations of wrongdoing.

A date for the next hearing has not been set at this time.
