Mahoning Co. Jail looking to house illegal immigrants arrested by ICE, Homeland Security

The Mahoning County Jail and the Mahoning County Sheriff's Office are working with US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Detroit and Cleveland as a potential temporary storage facility for illegal immigrants who the department arrests as part of the President's plan to remove illegal aliens from the U.S.
Mahoning County Sheriff Jerry Greene told 21 News that he has talked with Homeland Security and ICE, and individuals from within those organizations have come to the Mahoning Valley to have conversations about housing illegal immigrants within the county jail.
Greene said while they have not yet begun to house any federal inmates, "the wheels are in motion towards that," Green added.
The sheriff said that as it appears, there will be a need for bed space for immigrants arrested and housed until they can be deported.
