Global STEM partnership expands opportunities in Mahoning Valley
Campbell City Schools is now part of a global network aimed at expanding hands-on STEM learning and career preparation. The Mahoning Valley STEM Ecosystem has been selected to join TIES – the Teaching Institute for Excellence in STEM, connecting students and adults to real-world training opportunities.
Superintendent Matt Bowen says the partnership is about more than just education—it’s about ensuring both students and adults have the skills needed for in-demand careers. He emphasizes that aligning with industry partners will help create a stronger workforce in the region.
Business Manager Cheryl McArthur believes this initiative will be a game-changer for the area, allowing students and professionals to explore new career paths while keeping talent in the Mahoning Valley.
The initiative supports learners at all levels, from middle school students to adults looking to reskill, with the goal of making STEM education more accessible and workforce-ready.
Officials say this is just the beginning, with future events planned to connect businesses, educators, and community members to further develop STEM opportunities in the region.
