The Trumbull County Sheriff's Office is warning citizens of a potential phone scam.

In a voicemail from an unknown male, the caller claimed to be a detective with the Trumbull County Sheriff's office and left a phone number (330-902-4880) for the recipient to call and leave a message in order to be contacted again.

The suspected scam caller aims to have a potential victim leave messages and then, once in contact, tell them that there is an urgent legal matter that must be resolved immediately by paying a fine directly to him or posting a surety bond to avoid arrest.

The Trumbull County Sheriff's Office is reminding the community that no law enforcement agency or its representatives will ever ask for money or personal details over the phone.

If you receive any call that mimics this, it is encouraged that you report it to your local law enforcement agency immediately.
