Cheerleaders from across the Mahoning Valley are prepping for the State Cheer competition this weekend.

Cheerleaders from Girard, Poland, Austintown Fitch, Jackson Milton, Canfield and Sebring McKinley High Schools all gathered for a Pump Up Party at Cheertime Athletics in Niles in preparation for the State Cheer Competition.

The competition will be held from Friday, February 21 through Sunday, February 23.

According to the Ohio Association of Secondary School Administrators' website, the three-day competition will take place at Dublin Jerome High School in Dublin, Ohio on Friday and Big Walnut High School in Sunbury, Ohio Saturday and Sunday.

The Pump Up Party acts as a way to bring the cheerleaders together for a time of celebration, motivation and team spirit prior to their big weekend.

The event included team performances, team bonding and a motivational speaker, as well as performances from local teams to boost morale ahead of the competition.
