Students at the Williamson College of Business Administration at Youngstown State University will soon volunteer their time assisting members of the community this tax season.

G M Mohiuddin Rahman and Emily Wilson, pictured above left to right, will help with income tax preparation and electronic filing at no charge as part of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Program.

The VITA Program began on February 7 and will continue every Friday until April 11.

Appointments must be made to participate in the VITA Program as no walk-ins are accepted. Community members can register online.

International students may also register for the VITA Program here.

The Mahoning County Financial Stability Partnership will also be hosting a Financial Fair on March 14 at YSU.

Ten partners from the Financial Stability Partnership to provide financial education and support all attendees to the fair.

VITA provides free assistance to all taxpayers, including but not limited to persons with disabilities, students and senior citizens.

Taxpayers must provide wage and earning statements (Form W-2) from all employers, interest statements from banks (Form 1099) and a copy of last year's tax return, if applicable.

Taxpayers must also provide any other relevant information about income and expenses.

Taxpayers should bring social security cards for all people on the tax return and a photo ID card.

To prepare for the VITA program, business students and community volunteers must complete more than 50 hours of intensive training and pass IRS Certifications.
