New 7 17 Credit Union credit card gives back to the community
A new credit card program from 7 17 Credit Union is set to launch, aiming to provide both financial relief for cardholders and critical funding for community programs in the Mahoning Valley.
Through a partnership with the Greater Warren-Youngstown Urban League, the credit union will donate 7.17 cents for every purchase made with the new card, helping to support financial literacy programs, housing initiatives, and a homeless shelter for youth.
John Demmler, President and CEO of 7 17 Credit Union, emphasized that this is more than just another credit card—it’s a tool for financial empowerment. The new card offers one of the lowest interest rates in the country, starting at 7.17%, along with no annual fees, no balance transfer fees, and no cash advance fees. Demmler hopes that this will provide a financial lifeline for individuals struggling with high-interest credit card debt.
Thomas Conley, President and CEO of the Greater Warren-Youngstown Urban League, called the partnership “historic,” highlighting that it aligns with the Urban League’s mission to uplift underserved communities. He said the funding will allow them to expand their outreach efforts and invest in programs that promote economic stability.
Youngstown Mayor Jamael Tito Brown also praised the initiative, noting that financial empowerment leads to stronger communities by creating pathways to homeownership and economic growth.
Funds raised through the program will be distributed to the Urban League on a quarterly basis, ensuring ongoing support for its programs.
The 7 17 Credit Union affinity card officially launches this Friday and will be available at all 7 17 Credit Union branches and online.
