Calcutta Water Rescue, Search and Rescue called to aid Kentucky flooding victims

The Calcutta Fire Rescue department was contacted by a sheriff's office in Kentucky requesting specialized teams to help an area dealing with flooding.
The Calcutta Fire Department's Water Rescue and Search and Rescue teams were called upon by the Floyd County Sheriff's Office in Kentucky to aid the department in dealing with the flooding the area is experiencing.
The teams were called out early Sunday afternoon according to a Facebook post from the Calcutta Fire Department.
Since Sunday evening, crews dispatched to help have been performing active water rescues and plan to stay to help in Kentucky until they are released.
The responders were tasked to be attached to the Floyd County Emergency Rescue Squad and Prestonburg Fire and EMS to perform rescues.
Originally, the Calcutta Fire Rescue team worked with Prestonburg, Perry County, Hazard and Breathitt County during the 2022 floods.
The departments kept in contact if they were needed again.
The Prestonburg Fire Chief wants to thank the citizens of St. Clair Township, Calcutta for lending the team to Floyd County Sheriff's Office during this time, according to the Facebook post.
