Woman accused of posting Snapchat threat to 'shoot up' Grove City College

A woman has been accused of posting a threatening Snapchat message directed at Grove City College.
According to an affidavit, Ellen Ida Otterman, 21, of Barre, Vt., was taken into custody on Feb. 8 after the FBI alerted Mercer County 911 about the post. The message, displayed over a selfie of Otterman wearing a gray hoodie and a black medical mask, read, “Am I ill or about to shoot up a school? Stay tuned for updates.”
Snapchat provided authorities with subscriber information and GPS data, which placed Otterman inside the Pew Fine Arts Center on the Grove City College campus, the affidavit said. Officers located Otterman leaving the building and took her into custody at 3:33 p.m.
According to the affidavit, Otterman waived her Miranda rights and admitted to posting the photo and text.
Otterman is charged with terroristic threats, a first-degree misdemeanor, and disorderly conduct, a third-degree misdemeanor. She is scheduled to appear before District Magistrate Douglas E. Straub for a preliminary hearing on March 26 at 9:30 a.m.
