Immigration officials charge woman arrested in Warren

A woman is in the Trumbull County jail after immigration officials say she was arrested in Warren with what authorities say are fake identification papers.
According to an affidavit filed by a Homeland Security Investigations special agent, Warren police were called to the Parkman Road Circle K early Monday after employees found a car parked by the dumpster with someone sleeping inside.
The Hyundai Sonata was occupied by five people: three adults and two juveniles. Officers discovered the Colorado license plate did not match the vehicle.
Two of the adults produced Venezuelan ID cards. Emileth Rodriguez, 39, a passenger in the car, provided a permanent resident card and a Social Security card.
Police noticed that Rodriguez’s permanent resident card lacked standard security features, such as a hologram, and contacted Homeland Security.
After being advised of her Miranda rights in Spanish, Rodriguez admitted to an ICE agent that the cards were fake and that she had obtained them from an unknown person in Chicago, the affidavit states.
A database search revealed the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services number on the permanent resident card belonged to a Chinese national, and the Social Security number belonged to a different individual, according to the affidavit.
Rodriguez was taken to the county jail and pleaded not guilty to charges of forgery and falsification filed in Warren Municipal Court. Local prosecutors have asked the court to dismiss those charges now that the U.S. Attorney has taken over the case.
An initial hearing for Rodriguez is scheduled in the U.S. District Court in Youngstown on Thursday for allegedly violating the law on fraud and misuse of visas, permits, and other documents.
