An East Liverpool man has been charged with vehicular homicide 22 months after police say his SUV struck and killed a 76-year-old man as he was trying to cross the street.
Sixty-nine-year-old Paul Vojnovich pleaded “not guilty” to the charge filed this month in connection with the April 7, 2023, accident.
Police say a Jeep Compass struck James Schmitt near his St. Clair Avenue home shortly before 7 p.m.
The police report says Vojnovich told officers he didn’t see Schmitt.
Another hearing in the case is scheduled for May 5.
