Youngstown State launches Radiologic Technology Program

Youngstown State University has launched a new Radiologic Technology Program, with applications now being accepted for the fall 2025 cohort.
The program, housed in the Bitonte College of Health and Human Services, will lead to an Associate of Applied Science Degree in Radiologic Technology, the university announced Monday.
The 22-month program, beginning in August 2025, will combine academic coursework and hands-on clinical experience over five semesters, including one summer session of full-time study. It requires 62 credit hours for completion, with students able to take general education courses before formal admission.
Students who complete the program will be eligible to take the national certification examination administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, a required credential for practicing as a radiologic technologist.
The program aims to provide students with the technical expertise needed for entry-level radiographers, along with communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Students will learn patient positioning, technical parameters, and radiation protection, and will be able to adapt procedures for non-routine cases and evaluate image quality.
The admissions process includes general university admission, a Request for Review of program-specific requirements and a program application.
The deadline to submit a request for review is Wednesday, March 12, by 4 p.m. Applications are due Friday, March 14, by 4 p.m.
