Vivek Ramaswamy announces his campaign for Ohio Governor

Vivek Ramaswamy announced in a press release on Monday evening that he is officially running for Governor of Ohio.
During an event at CTL Aerospace in Cincinnati, he addressed the crowd gathered there to make the announcement.
In a speech he delivered during the event, he said that he aimed to bring fresh leadership to Columbus and chart a new course for Ohio.
He will continue his campaign with rallies in New Albany, Toledo and Strongsville.
Ramaswamy presented numerous policy visions in the press release, including:
- Economic Excellence Through Bold Leadership: This section details that Ramaswamy aims to cut the state income tax - eventually to zero - to lower property taxes. He also says that he wants to empower local police and reattach work requirements to Medicaid and welfare.
- Making Ohio the State of Educational Excellence: This section details that Ramaswamy aims to create a meritocracy that values both academic and vocational pursuits equally in education. This plan also includes school choice, ensuring that a police officer is in every school, and that chronic absenteeism is addressed. In this plan, he also aims to implement merit-based pay for teachers and principals, reinstate physical education standards, and address the youth mental health crisis.
- Reviving the American Dream in Ohio: This section details that Ramaswamy aims to create a new generation that embraces capitalism and success. In this section, he also states that he envisions a future where local businesses thrive, families grow without financial strain and that every child has the tools to succeed and build a brighter future.
After presenting these visions, Ramaswamy went on to state that the metric to measure the successes would be how many people move into the state versus how many people move from the state, the number of children who are born into families and the number of those children who go on to remain in the state.
