Firefighters battled a blaze in a two-story commercial building on Mahoning Avenue Northwest in Warren Thursday evening.

According to Warren Professional Fire Fighters Local 204, crews responded to the 3000 block of Mahoning Avenue NW at 6:09 p.m. for a reported structure fire with possible entrapment.  Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy fire on the second floor of a building that housed an automotive repair shop and apartment.

The road was blocked by fire engines as crews entered the upstairs apartment through the rear of the building, the union said. After navigating high heat and smoke, firefighters located and extinguished the fire. A search revealed no victims.

Initial reports incorrectly stated the fire was on Madison Avenue.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Ohio State Fire Marshal.
