Faulkner: 'Surprised' Dynes wasn't defensive player of the year

Youngstown State's Gabe Dynes leads the nation in blocked shots with 96 this season and was named to the All Defensive Team by coaches in the Horizon League.
"Yes, a little bit surprised to be honest with you," said Penguins Coach Ethan Faulkner when asked about no YSU players being named to the first or second teams.
"The guy who leads the country in blocked shots, impacts the game defensively more than anyone in our league, yes, surprised he wasn't the defensive player of the year, " said Faulkner.
"I certainly think he deserved that."
Nico Galette & EJ Farmer were named to the third team.
Asked if it was disappointing not to have any YSU player named to the first or second teams, Galette said.
"A lot of guys that picked over us, that the league feels is better than us have to come see us in the playoffs so we definitely have that on our minds."
