Youngstown firefighter still on duty following indictment for alleged worker's compensation fraud

A firefighter with the Youngstown Fire Department still has not been placed on leave after being indicted for alleged worker's compensation fraud.
According to the indictment filed in the Franklin County Court of Common Pleas, firefighter Patrick Bundy is charged with one count each of worker's compensation fraud and theft.
The indictment states that the alleged fraud occurred between January and February of 2022. During that time, Bundy allegedly fraudulently obtained between $1,000 and $7,500 in worker's compensation benefits.
Charges were filed by the Ohio Attorney General's Office.
Youngstown Law Director Lori Shells-Simmons tells 21 News the city is aware of the charges and is investigating the matter internally.
When 21 News first reported on the indictment earlier in the week, Youngstown Fire Chief Barry Finley told us Bundy has not been placed on leave at this time.
We've since followed up with Youngstown Deputy Law Director Adam Buente who said Bundy is still on active duty as of Thursday and there is no time frame for when any action would be taken against him.
