Grand jury indicts Masury man for shooting death of sister
The Trumbull County Grand Jury wasted little time in handing up an indictment against a Masury man who authorities say shot his sister.
John Zanolli, 61, was indicted Wednesday on charges of aggravated murder and abuse of a corpse for fatally shooting Janice Zanolli at her 3rd Street home in Masury one week ago.
It wasn't until three days later that authorities found Janice Zanolli's body. She had been shot in the head.
Brookfield Township Police Chief Aaron Kesiewicz tells 21 News police investigation revealed the victim's brother spent the following days contemplating suicide.
When police got to the house on Saturday, they found John Zanolli in the home with a gun threatening suicide. He was able to be apprehended within about 30 minutes.
The indictment includes a gun specification that could mean more prison time for Zanolli if he is convicted.
Zanolli remains held in the county jail without bond, after appearing for arraignment.
