NBC has officially announced who will be replacing Lester Holt on NBC Nightly News.

According to NBC News, Tom Llamas, NBC senior national correspondent and anchor of "Top Story with Tom Llamas" on NBC News NOW will be replacing Lester Holt as he steps down as anchor on NBC Nightly News.

NBC News reports that Llamas will still anchor "Top Story" in addition to his new position as Nightly News anchor.

Llamas will begin anchoring Nightly News in the summer of 2025.

This news comes after Lester Holt, who has anchored NBC Nightly News since June of 2015 announced earlier in February that he will be stepping down as Nightly News anchor at the beginning of the summer.

Holt will remain with the network with a full time role on "Dateline."
