The Youngstown State men's basketball team held off Cleveland State, 56-54, Monday in the Barbasol Horizon League Semifinals in Indianapolis.

The Penguins held a 22-21 lead at halftime, but the Vikings came out and took a seven-point lead in the second half. Siem Uijtendaal provided a big spark for the Penguins in the second half with 13 points including three 3-pointers.

YSU trailed 54-52 with:57 seconds left in regulation, Ty Harper connected on a corner three and was fouled. Harper made the free throw to put the Penguins ahead 56-54.

Cleveland State had a final opportunity but turned the ball over as Nico Galette came up with a steal to seal the game.

Uijtendaal's 13 points led the way for Youngstown, while Galette had nine and 13 rebounds. Harper also chimed in with nine.

The Penguins struggled from the free throw line in the win going 12-23. They shot 36% from the field. 

Youngstown State advances to the Horizon League Championship for the first time in program history under first-year head coach Ethan Faulkner. They'll play Robert Morris at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday on ESPN.
