The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has announced plans to repair potholes throughout the 3,600 miles of state-owned roadways that run throughout northwestern Pennsylvania.

"It has been a harsh winter in the northwest region. The combination of wet weather, like rain and melted ice and snow, and the quick fluctuating temperature swings above and well below freezing, and the depth of the frost have caused a high number of potholes to form throughout this corner of the state," said Aaron Fox, Assistant District Executive – Maintenance.

Drivers may experience lane restrictions controlled by flaggers and other temporary traffic impacts during these repair operations and PennDOT urges residents to slow down in areas with active road work.

Repairs will be performed between the hours of 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. throughout northwestern PA.
