Farrell woman, man charged in child sexual abuse case

Bond is set at $100,000 each for a Farrell woman and man who face multiple felony charges related to the alleged sexual abuse of a 10-year-old girl, according to court documents.
Nicole Fortunato, 29, of Farrell, is charged with multiple counts of sexual exploitation of children, endangering the welfare of children, obstruction, and conspiracy. Dustin Hahne, 34, also of Farrell, faces numerous counts of rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, aggravated indecent assault of a child, statutory sexual assault, indecent assault, and endangering the welfare of children.
According to an affidavit of probable cause filed by Sharpsville Police, the investigation began Dec. 16, 2024, after a referral from Mercer County Children and Youth Services.
The affidavit states that Hahne allegedly sexually assaulted the girl over two years, both at a former residence in Sharpsville and their current home in Farrell. The alleged assaults included penetration and other forms of sexual contact.
The affidavit details a forensic interview with the child at Akron Children's Hospital in Boardman, Ohio, where she provided explicit details of the alleged abuse.
Fortunato, according to the affidavit, was interviewed by police and Children and Youth Services, and initially gave inconsistent statements. She later admitted to witnessing some of the alleged abuse but failed to report it.
Hahne was held for court on all charges, according to documents.
Fortunato was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Travis P. Martwinski.
Court documents indicate the alleged incidents occurred between 2022 and late 2024.
