A Niles woman who was charged after her seven-week-old son was mauled by a German Shepherd has learned her fate.

According to the Trumbull County Prosecutor's Office, 29-year-old Brianna McNeese was sentenced to three years of probation and 100 hours of community service on a charge of endangering children.

McNeese pled guilty to this charge in December of 2024. The Prosecutor's Office says Judge Cynthia Rice only sentenced McNeese to probation because she had no prior criminal record, showed real remorse for her actions and has a low risk to reoffend.

The charge stems from an incident when McNeese and her husband Dillon Gallagher fell asleep on the couch with their then seven-week-old son, who was mauled by a German Shepherd in the home.

The Prosecutor's Office says the infant suffered multiple life-threatening injuries from the attack including a lacerated liver and other internal wounds, but the child, who is now almost a year old, is expected to make a full recovery.

Gallagher also pled guilty to a charge of endangering children in December of 2024. He is scheduled for sentencing on April 9.
