The Trumbull Unit of the American Cancer Society is launching its three-day spring daffodil sale. It expects to sell 20,000 bunches of daffodils at $3.25 each.

Seven members of the Youngstown Gymnastics Center have earned berths on the United States Association of Gymnastics Clubs Junior Elite Team: Michelle Lodge, Shannon Gallagher, Anna Russo, Tracy Testa, Mindy Cooper, Amy Ryan, and April DeAngelo. 

 

1975: Fred Davis, 6-foot-5 Boardman senior, is named to the Associated Press All-Ohio second team in basketball. 

Elaynne d. Morgan, the first woman elected to Poland Village Council in its 106-year history in 1971, became the village mayor, replacing Merle Madrid, who resigned. 

Surpassing all projections, nearly 15,000 voters turn out for a special election, approving a 6.8-mill, three-year school levy by more than 2,000 votes. 

 

1950: The Patrician Players of St. Patrick Church in Hubbard are in rehearsal for a three-act play, "The Betrayal."  The story of Christ's trial and crucifixion will be presented in the Hubbard High School auditorium. 

Youngstown College's first swim team is putting in three-hour daily practice sessions at the downtown YMCA.  Meets are scheduled with Slippery Rock, Thiel, Baldwin-Wallace, and Case Institute of Technology. 

Charles Stewart Austin of Poland is named manager of the Elks Club. He has been assistant manager of the Youngstown Country Club for two years.
