Rehabilitation work to begin on Market Street Bridge April 14

Rehabilitation work is expected to begin on the Market Street Bridge in Youngstown in mid-April.
According to the Mahoning County Engineer's Office, rehabilitation work on the Market Street Bridge is set to begin Monday, April 14.
Work will consist of the removal and replacement of the existing bridge lighting, strip seals, elastomeric compression seal and join armor at the north abutment.
Additionally, work will include:
- The addition of horizontal extensions to the ends of existing expansion joints
- The installation of a new vandal protection fence
- The installation of a new micro silica modified concrete overlay
- The patching of concrete abutments, piers, bridge deck and parapets
- The repair and painting of structural steel
- Miscellaneous repairs to scruppers and bridge drainage system
- The sealing of concrete substructure and parapet surfaces
- The sealing of deck surface
During the construction period, one lane of traffic will be maintained at all times. The northbound lanes on the east side of the bridge will be blocked on Monday, April 14.
All traffic will be shifted to the southbound lanes during this project. Once all work is done on the east side of the bridge, the southbound lanes will close off and all traffic will be shifted to the northbound lanes.
The contractor, BG Trucking & Construction Company from North Lima, will have 240 calendar days to complete the project. The project will cost $3,723,104.
