The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) has provided updates on several major road construction projects going on the the Mahoning Valley during the 2025 construction season.

ODOT District 4 Public Information Officer Ray Marsch tells 21 News there is an investment of just under $80 million into projects into projects in Mahoning and Trumbull Counties during this year's construction season.

In Trumbull County, crews will be hard at work on the ongoing State Route 46 and 82 Diverging Diamond Interchange project in Howland Township. That project is expected to be completed in summer of 2026.

"Last year, we were working on the State Route 82 bridge over 46 [and] building those bridges up, so that work is done. This construction season, we're focused on building the diverging diamond that you have seen the pictures of. This year is the big push to get a majority of that done," Marsch said.

Trumbull County is also seeing a resurfacing project aiming to resurface Route 11 from State Route 82 to King Graves Road.

Meanwhile in Mahoning County, crews will continue work on the State Route 170 pavement project in New Middletown. That project is expected to be completed at the end of 2025.

"That project features pavement replacement. We are also placing drainage along 170 in New Middletown. Crews are currently working on 170 between East Calla and Sycamore Drive ... and they hope to have that project by late fall of this year," Marsch said.

Marsch says should drivers drive in the vicinity of any of these projects, drivers should plan ahead and give themselves extra time as they're driving through the work zones.
