Charges against 33-year-old Daniel Odem Jr., the third suspect arrested in connection with the August 1 shooting death of 35-year-old Terran Page-Hughes, have been dismissed, Mercer County District Attorney Peter Acker told 21 News.

Acker stated that the dismissal was due to a problem with a witness. However, he added that his office is actively working to refile charges against Odem in the case.

Odem had been charged with criminal homicide, murder in the first degree, firearms not to be carried without a license, and possession of firearms prohibited in connection with the incident on the 800 Block of Ravine Place.

According to a criminal complaint, Odem was charged alongside co-defendants Billy Phillips and Jamel Jordan. The complaint alleges that Jordan and Odem went to Ravine Place to fight Page-Hughes, and police believe they are the suspects who shot and killed him. Jordan is also facing charges of criminal homicide, first-degree murder, and carrying a firearm without a license.

Phillips told police he accompanied Jordan and Odem to the scene but claims he ran away upon hearing gunshots.

Charged with murder, criminal homicide, conspiracy, and assault, Phillips is awaiting trial in the case. As of Tuesday, Jordan had not yet been arrested.
