The $3.2 million project to repair 26 miles of U.S. Interstate 79 and 9 miles of U.S. Interstate 80 within Mercer County restarted on Monday.

I-79 will be worked on between the Crawford County and Lawrence County lines and I-80 between the Venango County and Butler County lines.

Work had begun in 2024 and consists of:

  • Milling
  • Paving
  • Concrete patching
  • New pavement markings
  • Minor repairs on 10 bridges

Lanes will be restricted throughout the repairs resulting in changes in traffic patterns and likely travel delays.

Work should be completed, weather permitting, by August 2025.

The contractor is Glenn O. Hawbaker from State College, PA and the $3.2 million budget is to be paid for exclusively with federal funds.
