The Supreme Court of Ohio is refusing to hear the appeal of a man convicted in a Niles murder case in 1995.

According to the Trumbull County Prosecutor's Office, the Supreme Court rejected the appeal of 65-year-old Felix Brown, who is currently serving an 18-year-to-life prison sentence for the 1995 murder of 26-year-old Monica Brandon.

Back in March, Ohio's 11th District Court of Appeals denied Brown's request for a new trial. Now, the Supreme Court of Ohio has reaffirmed that decision.

Brown shot Brandon in the forehead in February of 1995 and was convicted in October of that same year. While Brown initially claimed he accidentally shot her in an argument, it was later determined that he intentionally shot her because he was angry she was dating other men.

Brown had also admitted to lying to 911 dispatchers that robbers were responsible for Brandon's death.

In a letter addressed to the Ohio Adult Parole Authority expressing opposition for a previous parole opportunity for Brown, Trumbull County Prosecutor Dennis Watkins said Brown had been convicted before and it didn't take him long to commit another crime.

"He had been sentenced to prison previously four times, and it only took him 22 days on parole to kill an innocent victim," Watkins wrote.

Brown's next opportunity for parole will be in December of 2027.
