The Pennsylvania Department of Transportion (PennDOT) is advising drivers that a "superload" will be passing through various northwest PA communities including Mercer County as it travels to Columbiana Thursday.

According to PennDOT, the superload will be transported from Allegheny County to Columbiana and is expected to travel through several northwest PA counties including Mercer County before traveling into Ohio via I-80 westbound Thursday, April 17.

Once it gets into Ohio, the superload will continue on I-80 and then head to SR-11 to SR-46 to SR-164.

The superload will be carrying a 27'8'' wide steel cone that is 136 feet long, nearly 28 feet wide and weighs 153 tons. The superload will be transported by Southern Pines Trucking Inc.

Drivers are advised to stay alert for slow-moving traffic as the superload will move as a rolling slowdown using two lanes resulting in traffic stoppage and delays. The superload may travel about 25 to 30 miles an hour or less.

PennDOT encourages drivers to use alternate routes if possible.
