A Warren man is accused of raping a woman in Champion Township back in February of 2025.

According to a Trumbull County grand jury report, 64-year-old John Baker has been indicted on one count of rape, as well as one count each of kidnapping and felonious assault.

According to a report from Champion Township PD, police were called to the 100 Block of Summerdale Avenue in February of 2025 and spoke with the alleged victim.

The alleged victim told police she had met Baker a few weeks ago and he showed up at her at her home earlier in the evening. Police say eventually, the alleged victim told Baker she was tired and going to bed.

Police say Baker came into the bedroom about 10 minutes later and "became aggressive" with the alleged victim and "forced himself" on her. Police say he was hurting her and motioning to her private area.

The alleged victim told police Baker had penetrated her genitalia. She further told police that when she asked Baker why he was doing this, he replied "I needed you. I knew I would get to you."

She then escaped and locked herself in the bathroom to call her sister according to the report. Police say Baker was stabbing the bathroom door with a knife while this was going on.

Police saw nearly a dozen stab marks on the bathroom door according to the report.

According to the report, police found Baker naked in the room where the alleged incident took place. Police say he appeared to be intoxicated at the time.

Baker was arrested on a warrant out of Canton. Police say during the arrest he "became irate" and said "B***h I am going to get you. When I get out of jail I am coming back for you. I have matches and I am going to get you, b***h."

Police also say he told officers he told an officer he could "kick [him] in the face and kill [him.]"

According to court records, Baker is set to be arraigned on Tuesday, April 22.
