It is a sad ending to the long search for the Zoldan family dog.

Bruce Zoldan confirmed with 21 News that his dog Cipriani was found deceased recently in a lake on his property.

The family's dog went missing on January 17, and he, and his family spent months looking and asking for the public's help locating their missing dog.

Zoldan told 21 News that Cipriani must have fallen through the ice on a lake on his property. He said they had used underwater drones and aerial drone companies to try to track her, but their efforts were unsuccessful.

In a press release sent to 21 News said, "After nearly three months of relentless searching, we have received difficult, but important, closure on the case of our beloved missing dog, Cipriani. About a week ago we found Cipriani deceased in the lake behind our Canfield home.  We had previously searched the lake and found nothing."

Zoldan said that they have "received an outpouring of support from family, friends and strangers alike.  People we knew and didn’t know shared thousands of social media posts, helped the search efforts on foot and with drones, and displayed an overwhelming show of compassion to us."

“We are heartbroken, but grateful to finally have closure,” the Zoldan family said.  “Most of the trails and signs never led to the lake and with no visible evidence of cracked ice on the lake at the time, it was difficult to imagine that was where she had wandered.  We now believe she chased a bird or small animal onto the lake not understanding how thin the ice was under the snow.”

The Zoldan's said to express "our heartfelt thanks to all of our friends, old and new, who provided so much support and friendship to our family.  As all pet owners know, the animals really do become a part of the family.  Cipriani will continue to be a part of our family in our hearts."

To honor Cipriani’s memory, the Zoldan's are donating $10,000 to several animal charity organizations in the Valley in appreciation to the community for its support.   "We hope this gesture in Cipriani’s name will have a positive effect for many animals and local families," Zoldan added,

The release closed with "We will never forget the kindnesses expressed by so many people as we searched for our sweet girl.  Thank you," signed Bruce Zoldan and Pam Benger.
