POLICE: Dog dies after being attacked by another dog in Girard

A dog owner in Girard received a citation after police say their dog attacked another person's dog killing it.
According to a police report, officers were called to East Second Street for a report of a dog attacking another dog.
When they got there, the caller told police about a brown dog that was running loose in the area. The caller said he had gone outside with his Yorkie when the brown dog ran over to his dog aggressively.
Police say the brown dog grabbed the Yorkie in its mouth and began shaking it "like a rag doll." The dog was taken to the vet where it died of its injuries.
Police were able to find the brown dog and restrain it.
According to the report, police found the owner of the brown dog who told police she did not know her dog got loose and said one of her kids must not have shut the door all the way.
Police say the owner told officers the dog is great with people, but not always with other dogs.
The woman was issued a citation for the incident.
