Brookfield Township Trustees are looking to take legal action against a developer planning to build a gas station on Route 62 in Masury.

Attorney Cherry Poteet tells 21 News the property in question is located on the Route 62 near Dutch Lane. Plans call for this property to be turned into a Sunoco gas station.

According to the Trumbull County Auditor's website, the property was last sold to a company known as Amira Omran LLC out of Boardman.

Poteet says work began on this property within the past few months with Brookfield Township Trustees ordering the developers to only allow construction crews to access the property via Route 62 as required by the Trumbull County Planning Commission.

However, Poteet says this order is going ignored with crews using Dutch Lane to access the property, which Poteet says creates a safety hazard because Dutch Lane is such a small road and a lot of crashes have occurred there.

While no legal action has been taken yet, Poteet says she plans to file something in court early next week. She added that trustees have been trying to work with the developers for quite some time prior to considering legal action, but they never complied.
