Officers from the Youngstown and Boardman Police Departments investigated reports of gunfire in a Boardman neighborhood Thursday evening.

According to a police report from Boardman PD, an officer was flagged down by several people at the intersection of Grover Drive and Maple Drive telling the officer that a shooting had just occurred in the road.

The officer saw fresh tire marks in the front yard of a home on the 100 Block of Maple Drive, as well as several spent shell casings in front of a home on the 4400 Block of Erie Street. Police say no one was struck by the gunfire.

It was later learned that a black Jeep Compass and black Chevy Malibu were chasing each other on Berkshire Avenue headed towards Erie Street according to the report.

From there, police say the two vehicles exchanged gunfire on Erie Street and then turned around and fled via the yard on Maple.

At this time, no arrests have been made and no suspects have been named.
