What does Kimberly Clark Corporation bring to a community?
TRUMBULL COUNTY, OH - After purchasing the 559-acres 16 months ago, the Kimberly Clark parcel on Pine Avenue in the city still sits vacant.
On Wednesday, Trumbull County commissioners approved a 60% tax abatement for Kimberly Clark Corporation. This was granted without knowing when, or if the company will build in Warren. So, why?
The commissioners say they came to this decision after speaking with the company, and people from Aiken County, South Carolina.
For context, Kimberly Clark has been part of Aiken County South Carolina for nearly 6 decades, and brings over 1,200 jobs to the community.
21 News reached out to an official who's worked closely with the company in South Carolina. Will Williams, President and CEO of Western SC Economic Development Partnership, said all of his experiences with the group have been positive.
“In 15 years, it's all been positive. And my predecessor would say the same thing. I can’t think of a time there’s been any type of negative news about them,” said Williams. “It's a large company, large corporation. But, they still treat everybody like family. Whether it be team members or folks of the community as the whole.”
Kimberly Clark Corporation is the second largest taxpayer in Aiken County, paying around $3 million in taxes each year. This money has helped fund everything from EMS services to schools.
“60% of that revenue actually funds the Aiken County Public School District, and the other 40% goes to the county. I think your community will be extremely pleased to have them as a corporate citizen.” said Williams.
Williams said those at that company are dedicated to helping the community.
“Its team members are the largest contributor to the United Way of Aiken County,” said Williams.
Kimberly-Clark media relations told 21 News they are currently in a pre-earnings quiet period, and will be in touch later in April.
