First female-owned tattoo shop in Youngstown embraces eclectic interests
A new tattoo studio in Youngstown, The SaveFace Emporium, is a unique, female-owned and operated tattoo and piercing shop.
The studio is located inside the old Miss Pat's Thrift Store at 519 Market Street, near the Market Street Bridge.
Nicole McCutcheon, the owner, says the space brings together art, self-expression, and curiosity.
"I've been tattooing in Youngstown since 2015 and I've just always dreamed of like a spot of my own." McCutcheon said.
McCutcheon shares the space with best friend, business manager, and professional piercer Natasha Munster.
The two women created a space where people can feel comfortable expressing themselves, whether through body art or with a museum-like mix of oddities that are for sale.
"I think its really important, even in the spaces that we assume are very inclusive, to make sure that's a forefront thought and always thinking about being kind." Munster said.
The studio accepts walk-in appointments and is open Tuesday-Thursday from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
On May 1st, a grand opening celebration will occur at the business starting at 6 p.m. Live music will start at 8 p.m. and will feature performances by Taylor Hollingsworth, Worthless Curtis, SLUGG, and Danny Brutal.
