New Castle Police are looking for the suspect in connection a shooting at a home on Butler Avenue that sent one man to the hospital.

The suspect has been identified as 29-year-old Alex Minnich (pictured below). Police say he will be facing several charges including attempted homicide, two counts of aggravated assault and one count of recklessly endangering another person.

Officers responded to the home around 7 p.m. Sunday evening. A swat team was activated shortly after where the suspect was believed to be at the time, however after making entry discovered he wasn't in the home, all before clearing the scene.

New Castle Police Chief David Cumo tells 21 News a male victim, who was shot with a rifle, was transported to St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Youngstown. He is currently in stable condition after undergoing surgery according to Cumo.

Chief Cumo says Minnich and the victim were roommates and the two had gotten into an argument. Minnich allegedly started destroying cabinets in the kitchen followed by shooting the victim in the upper leg area.

Police say Minnich is still at large and should be considered armed and dangerous. If you see him or know of his whereabouts, you're asked to call 724-656-9300 immediately.
