Charges are pending in the case of a three-year-old shot and killed in Youngstown.

Youngstown Police Department Lieutenant Mohammad Awad tells 21 News police will be meeting with prosecutors to file charges upon the completion of the autopsy report for three-year-old Keilub Paul.

Awad would not give specifics on the specific charges that would be filed.

Paul was shot and killed on the 2000 Block of Pointview Avenue Monday, April 14. Awad previously told 21 News he was shot in his side. A police report states the death is believed to have been accidental.

Since the shooting, Awad said the family has not been cooperative with police and their story is not adding up. That alleged lack of cooperation has led to the frustration of Paul's father.

Despite those claims, Paul's mother Amber Gabrelcik reached out to 21 News and denied allegations of being uncooperative saying she had spoken to a YPD detective on Sunday and was tested for gunpowder residue on the day of the incident.

"No one knows what I have been going through. I applied pressure to his wound like 911 instructed. My sister performed CPR, again, as instructed. ... I have cooperated fully with the detectives," Gabrelcik said.

Gabrelcik also gave further insight into the moments leading up to the incident.

"We were in my bedroom and I told Keilub to go get his shoes as he was eagerly excited to go play outside. Within only 45 seconds of leaving my room, my baby was laying there shot and bleeding," Gabrelcik said.
