Former 21 News anchor gives keynote address at Press Club

MAHONING & SHENANGO VALLEYS - The Youngstown Press Club featured a keynote speaker during its annual meeting and dinner with deep ties to the Valley and its news coverage.
Former 21 News anchor and Valley native, Caroline Collins came to the meeting to give a keynote address entitled "Local Voices, Global Reach: The Digital Transformation of News."
Collins talked about the importance of integrating social media with broadcasting journalism in today's media landscape.
"When you pair education of digital marketing and use of social media with broadcast journalism, I'm telling you the sky is the limit," said Collins.
After her time at 21 News, Collins worked as a morning reporter in Fresno, California. She is currently an anchor and content creator for Fox 26 in Houston, Texas and has 2 million followers on social media.
"I would tell young journalists or journalists of any age, you have to be on social media," said Collins. "Sometimes it can feel like you are posting into the abyss of the internet, but I am telling you consistency is key and your reach is unimaginable with social media."
The meeting and dinner were held at Stambaugh Auditorium in Youngstown on Monday, April 21, at 5:30 p.m.
