Former Republican Ohio representative and Warren native Ron Hood has died at the age of 55 years old.

According to his obituary, Hood died on Saturday, April 19. He was first elected to serve in the Ohio House of Representatives in 1994 where he served several Ohio districts including the 57th, 78th and 91st Districts. His most recent term ended in 2020.

The obituary states Hood was known for his "staunch conservative" stances on issues, with him being a sponsor on Ohio's "heartbeat bill" in 2018, which targeted abortion.

A Facebook post from organization Ohio Conservatives PAC described Hood as "a good man and a true defender of liberty."

A funeral service for Hood will be held Monday, April 28 at the Heritage Nazarene Church in Circleville, Ohio at 6 p.m. Visitation will take place at the church Monday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. 

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, April 29 at the Reber Hill Cemetery.
