Ohio BMV extends hours for two Saturdays prior to Real ID deadline

The deadline for Ohioans to get their Real ID in order to fly is fast approaching and the BMV is extending its Saturday hours to give those who haven't gotten theirs yet ample time to do so.
A representative for the Ohio Department of Public Safety tells 21 News Ohio's BMV locations will be operating under extended hours on Saturday, April 26 and Saturday, May 3.
Normally, the BMV is only open until noon on Saturdays. However, it will be open until 3 p.m. both Saturdays leading up to the Real ID deadline.
After May 7, folks will be required to have a Real ID or a valid passport to board domestic flights in the U.S. If your ID has a star in the top right corner, it is a Real ID.
If you do not have a Real ID yet, you will need to bring the following items to the BMV in order to get one:
- Proof of identity like a birth certificate or a passport
- Your social security card
- Two proofs of address
- Legal documentation of any name change if applicable
In Ohio, the cost of a Real ID is the same as a traditional driver's license, but in Pennsylvania there is an additional $30 fee on top of the driver's license renewal cost.
