Work has begun on the Premier Bank tower in downtown Youngstown as the banking company begins its transition into its merger with WesBanco.

Scaffolding installation began Tuesday, April 22. From there, sidewalk protection and traffic patterns are set to be implemented Monday, April 28 and signage removal and replacement is set to begin Monday, May 5 and last until Saturday, May 10.

During the signage removal process, traffic and pedestrian control measures will be in place to ensure safety in the area.

The iconic tower was constructed in 1919 and originally displayed the Home Savings name. As of 2020, that name was changed to Premier Bank after Home Savings Merged with Premier.

In July of 2024, it was announced that Premier was going to merge with WesBanco, which would result in another change to the iconic clock tower. That merger was completed earlier in 2025 allowing for the redesign of the tower to officially begin.
