One month since Sharon Regional reopened its doors
All inpatient services at Sharon Regional Medical Center are back one month after reopening its doors.
Tenor Health Partners acquired Sharon Regional back in January, but it wasn't until March that the doors to the center reopened to patients. Since the doors have reopened, life has started coming back to the hospital.
“All of our physician practices are really up and going, and starting to see patients. And so, it's been a ramp up process, but now that we’re to that point, we are really starting to see it pay off,” said Butch Eavenson, CEO of Sharon Regional Medical Center.
Dr. Valeri Roth, Chief of Surgery at Sharon Regional Medical Center said the start has been slow and steady, but she's starting to see more patients.
“So we finally got opened, and it's been slow and steady. We just keep moving forward, adding back all the services one thing at a time, and things have gone really smoothly,” said Roth.
As of April 15, all services have been returned, including the cath lab. Eavenson said they are now looking at the future.
“We’re definitely looking at continuing to add neurology to our service. We, you know, we had a couple of ventures that we’re looking at,” said Eavenson.
When asked if there are any concerns about the hospital's future after the Insight Trumbull hospitals paused services under the same landlord, Medical Properties Trust, Eavenson said they reopened the hospital with caution.
“We've been thoughtful again, how many staff and services we had. So, not trying to be everything to everybody, but opening in a very thoughtful and methodical manner, which is why all services were not open day one,” said Eavenson.
Eavenson also credited the administration, and the community’s support for the hospital’s success.
“This is, I will say, one of, if not the best community support that I’ve ever seen,” said Eavenson.
The hospital is also part of a 72 person residency program in partnership with Western Reserve. This program takes in those who were displaced when the Insight Trumbull County hospitals paused services.
“This was part of the Trumbull closing. They were no longer able to take those residents, and we’re fortunate enough to have space,” said Eavenson.
Sharon Regional has enough staff for all its services, but is hiring.
