Local Catholics honor Pope Francis during service at St. Columba in Youngstown

The Catholic Diocese of Youngstown held a special mass Thursday night honoring Pope Francis.
Church members and representatives from the Mahoning Valley Association of Churches and the local Jewish community took part in the service at Saint Columba Cathedral in downtown Youngstown.
Guests included reverends and officials from the Youngstown Area Jewish Federation, and Lutheran, Unitarian, Presbyterian and Episcopal churches from across the Valley.
Pope Francis died on April 21 of a stroke and heart failure at the age of 88. He gave his Easter blessing from the balcony of St. Peter's the day before.
The pontiff had returned to the Vatican after spending more than a month in the hospital with respiratory ailments including pneumonia.
Francis, the first Latin American pope, is lying in state until Friday at 7 p.m.
His funeral will take place Saturday with a number of world leaders in attendance, including U.S. President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump, Ukranian President Volodymyr Zelensky, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and French President Emmanuel Macron, according to CNN.
