WARREN, Ohio - Workers at Trumbull County Jobs and Family Services are in negotiations for a new contract.

The union of workers is made up of eligibility specialists, investigators, security officers, social workers, unit support staff, management information systems specialists, and clerical staff.

Administrators for JFS and union representatives would not comment on what the workers are asking for.

An online petition was started by workers asking for support.

“We care about our residents and the children of Trumbull County; this work isn't just a job; it's a calling. We demand that Trumbull County administrators respect our commitment and dedication and negotiate with AFSCME Local 458 in good faith,” the petition states.

Trumbull County Commissioner Rick Hernandez told 21 News the board did not accept a contract presented to them last week resulting in both sides going back to the table.

Both sides will meet to negotiate again on Monday, May 5.

The union is currently working without a contract.
