GIRARD, Ohio - A Girard student suffered minor injuries after he was struck by a police cruiser during a reenactment event at Girard High School on Thursday morning.

Girard Fire Chief Jim Petruzzi tells 21 News the student was an actor in a "prom promise" event that reenacted what could happen if students were to drive while impaired.

Chief Petruzzi said the student was lying in the back parking lot of the school when a Girard police cruiser hit him on accident.

EMS was already present at the scene for the demonstration and immediately went to tend the student's wound

The student was taken to the hospital as a precaution, but is expected to be ok.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol of Warren was called to investigate this accident.
