In partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank, the Warren Family Mission begins offering free fresh produce to the community on the first Friday of each month, starting today.

The distribution is from 9:30 a.m. until supplies last at 1312 W. Market St. in Warren. The program is scheduled to run monthly from May through October and will operate as a walk-up service.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has highlighted the issue of "food deserts," areas where residents have limited access to affordable and nutritious food, including fresh fruits and vegetables.
