Mercer County, Pa. - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is planning on replacing the reflective raised pavement markers along interstates in Mercer, Venango and Erie Counties starting on May 5.

These roadway reflectors help motorists with visibility in low-light conditions, along with giving a loud rumble when drivers run their tires over them to keep them in the lanes.

The work on these northwest interstate routes is set to be finished on May 16. After which, work will begin on secondary routes in counties like Mercer, Erie, Venango, Forest, Crawford and Warren.

This project's work hours are between 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday through Thursday, and the overall project will be completed by October of this year.

PennDOT advised motorists to be diligent when driving through or around work zones and to be mindful of workers and flaggers.
