NILES, Ohio - After nearly 40 years, a family-owned Niles bar and grill is up for sale. Leslie Nottingham first opened Gasoline Alley in 1987 but said after decades of highs and lows, it's time to retire.

“It makes me sad but then again I'm looking forward to the next chapter of my life,” Leslie said.

From the beginning the bar has always kept its small cozy feel with just a few booths and high tops.

For the Nottingham family, letting go brings some mixed emotions.

“I'm thrilled that Leslie made that decision that she’s ready but at the same time [I'm] kind of broken hearted,” Farrell Nottingham Leslie’s Husband said.

“It's taught us all, even us children a lot of life lessons and memories and I think we'll all hold onto that as we go on in our lives,” Alyssa Nottingham, Leslie’s step-daughter said.

For Leslie the next step is enjoying traveling and seeing her seven kids more. She said it’s not just the walls covered in license plates and old fashioned memorabilia they’ll miss, but the people who come in every day.

“We used to always say you're a stranger here but once,” she said.

The doors will stay open until they find the right person to take over. Leslie said she hopes the new owners keep things mostly the same and she's willing to stay on for as long as it takes to teach them the ropes.

“I just really hope whoever gets it loves it like I did for all these years,” Leslie said.
