Mahoning Co. Dog Pound at capacity after recent rescues

MAHONING COUNTY, Ohio - The Mahoning County Dog Pound is at maximum capacity.
According to a post on the agency's Facebook page, the Pound has 79 dogs in its care as of May 5.
The Pound is calling for rescue agencies with open kennels and fosters to help if they can.
The Dog Warden posted eight stray intakes on its Facebook page Monday, including five puppies found hiding under a porch on E. Earle Avenue.
The pups were emaciated and dehydrated and were taken to the vet. All of them have been dewormed, hydrated and fed, but are still at the vet for observation.
21 News spoke with Mahoning County Dog Pound Lisa Hill about the amount of dogs in their care. Hill said the Pound can house 114 dogs, but it all depends on the size of the dogs coming in.
"Most of the dogs we're getting are bigger dogs, so comfortably we can house around 60 of them," Hill said.
Hill said a lot of dogs get out during the spring and summer, so its important to make sure your microchip and ID for your pet is up to date.
Pictures of available dogs are posted on the Dog Warden's Facebook page.
